Listen to this article

Station generates 4% of the UK”s power so we will seek to find out what the new owners will do in the long term, as nothing has yet been decided over its long term future as a power generator says GMB

GMB, the union for energy and engineering construction workers, commented on the news of the sale that Eggborough Power Station has been sold to Czech energy group. See notes to editors for report in Selby Online News.

Phil Whitehurst GMB National Officer for Construction said:

“This is good news, not only for the core full time employees who work there, but also for the supply chain of subcontractors who both repair and maintain the ageing coal fired Power Station throughout its day to day operation.

As this Station generates 4% of the UK”s power, GMB plan to find out what the new owners will do with the station in the long term, as nothing has yet been released over its long term future as a power generator”
