Latest techniques in Spreadability Testing and Layer Quality Control

Experts at the Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology have designed an instrument to quantify the behaviour of a powder when spreading for Additive Manufacturing.

This incorporates a shadowgraphy technique (shown below), used to quantify powder bed surface roughness.

It can also be set up to determine powder bed relative packing fraction, the change in packing fraction, particle size and shape over the build plate, and to evaluate the electrostatic charges over the powder bed.

To learn more, call us on 020 8331 8646 or join us for a FREE webinar in June. Details on www.bulksolids.com on the Events page.

We also offer an online short course Powder Flow and Handling for Additive Manufacturing, where this technique will be explained in more detail, along with other topics such as powder properties, quality and Health & Safety considerations relating to the AM process.
