Because of the diverse manner in which spices are harvested suppliers can never be sure that their imported product is ever 100% free from unwanted material or to the correct quality control specification required. One of the UK’s largest suppliers of natural spices was finding it increasingly difficult to ensure that their packed spices were coming up to the exacting requirements.
Although some very basic sieving of the products were carried out the slow hand methods created an enormous bottle-neck to their increasing production output. Production started to suffer and it began to be impossible to maintain targets.
The company contacted Farleygreene primarily to offer a quality control sieving arrangement, but the problems that needing solving included more than just a sieving system.
Farleygreene provided a bespoke sieving and vacuum transfer combination system thus resolving all their requirements.
The system was designed to allow the company extra capacity for the future and provided mobility to allow them to re-site the equipment when or wherever needed. The easy to clean design comprised the following, a sack-tip station with vacuum take off traversing to a vacuum hopper loader mounted upon a wheeled docking frame to receive two different sized IBC containers to receive the sieved product.
Because of the differing spice products and differing final product requirements a further linear sieve was later provided to grade some of the products into size fractions. This giving the client a totally universal arrangement to produce whatever sized or specified product required, knowing that the final packed product was to their best possible grade.
