Spiroflow Aero-Mechanical Conveyor helps improve the way that gelatine granules are transferred to mixers
A ‘Spiroflow’ Aero-Mechanical Conveyor has been in operation at a famous manufacturer of Pork Pies since February 2002. The conveyor was installed as part of an improvement to the way that gelatine granules are transferred to the mixers.
The 2.4 metre long ‘Spiroflow’ Aero-Mechanical Conveyor operates at 60 degrees and has an integral sack tip feed hopper. It is used to transfer 25kg bags of gelatine into either of the two mixers that produce the gelatine which is filled into the space between the pork filling and its pie casing. The introduction of the conveyor has significantly improved the efficiency of the gelatine production process.
The ‘Spiroflow’ Aero-Mechanical Conveyor supplied to the customer is of 316 grade stainless steel construction. The integral feed hopper has a mesh grill to enable bags of material to be opened and tipped with ease. The conveyor and its feed hopper are mounted on a mobile frame so that it can be moved from one mixer to another and away from both to be washed down periodically. To facilitate internal washing, the conveyor is complete with a drain plug.
Aero-Mechanical Conveyors comprises several evenly spaced polyurethane disks attached to a wire rope. The rope and disks travel in a continuous loop at high speed within parallel steel tubes. At each end there are enclosed housings within which the rope assembly runs from one tube to the other around specially designed sprockets. One of the sprockets drives the rope and disks while the other provides tension to the rope. The high speed of the disks produces an air stream that fluidizes and entrains product in an airflow until it is centrifugally ejected at the outlet.
