Titan Enterprises Leads the Way with Green Strategies

Listen to this article

Titan Enterprises leads innovation and sustainability with green strategic investments and robust UK-based supply chains.

It may be challenging to balance environmental and economic objectives. However, sustainability is no longer viewed as an expense for the business but rather as a key driver of innovation, new markets, long-term cost savings, and business resilience.

Prioritising and defining environmental goals which complement our business plan is not easy and ultimate benefits need to be viewed within a longer horizon,” maintains Titan's Company & Finance Director Kate Thomas. Strategic investment and long-term planning usher in expected bottom-line gains and environmental benefits, not quick fixes.

Powering Sustainability with Solar Energy

In December 2024, Titan installed two sets of solar panels in its factory. This scheme will help to save six tonnes of CO₂ every year. The clean energy will feed into Titan's production lines and any surplus will be returned into the National Grid.

Part of the installation was financed by Low Carbon Dorset under the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund. In reducing its fossil fuel dependency, Titan is lowering operational costs and its carbon footprint, upholding its commitment to a greener future.

Enhancing Supply Chain Resilience

To enable continued growth until 2025, Titan has focused on enhancing its supply chain.

Through its UK-based supplier bias, Titan has expanded its network to venture into various materials, designs and moulding styles that have enhanced the technical quality of its flowmeters.

This increased buying power enables the company to manage higher raw material and component prices, remain competitive, and meet customer demands more effectively. Locally based purchases and storage of higher numbers of products also minimise transportation environmental effects and prevent the risk of supply chain failures.

Recycling and Efficiency Through Technology

Titan is revolutionising its approach to recycling and has implemented innovative digital solutions. One of the key programs is the replacement of hardcopy technical manuals with QR code systems, reducing paper consumption and waste significantly.

Furthermore, the company is striving to recycle outdated printed circuit boards (PCBs) from research and development or even those that are rejected in production.

Packaging is also being addressed. Titan is phasing out polystyrene packaging for recyclable cardboard and biodegradable filler ‘worms', demonstrating its concern about environmentally friendly packaging.

Product Redesign for Environmental Benefit

Titan's manufacturing and R&D groups collaborate to redesign products with fewer environmentally damaging or resource-intensive materials.

Medical, pharmaceutical and food processing industries require products that are in strict food grade, which is a challenge of sorts. In spite of these constraints, Titan still finds creative solutions to being environmentally responsible without compromising on compliance.

Investigating new technologies and materials and pushing the performance boundaries to test what can be achieved is exciting,” states Neil Hannay, Titan’s Senior R&D Engineer. “Something that wasn’t feasible say 10 years ago is now delivering results beyond our expectations because of new technology and material available that have properties that perform differently.”

Facing Challenges and Looking Ahead
Despite a rollercoaster 2024 defined by a confused geopolitical climate, Titan still focuses on delivering quality and expertise. Titan builds trust with its global customers through thought leadership, technical data and targeted marketing.

In strategic programs and targeted investments, we are placing our dedication to sustainable practices squarely in our goals as well as operational excellence,” says Kate Thomas. “These are likely to result in a reduction of direct manufacturing costs and inventory savings that are consistent with our environmental stewardship and economic growth.”.

Titan Enterprises' unyielding commitment to sustainability and innovation is the foundation of its long-term plan, ensuring the company's sustained success until 2025 and beyond.
