EAL announces new MD
EAL has announced a new Managing Director will be taking the helm at the specialist awarding organisation for industry qualifications.
Ann Watson, EAL’s current MD, will be taking a 12-month secondment to Semta, the sector skills council for science, engineering and manufacturing technologies, where she is taking up the post of Chief Operating Officer from September 1st 2013. Ann has been MD at EAL for the last eight years.
Julia Chippendale has been appointed to the post for the period of Ann’s secondment, effective from 1st September 2013.
Julia from Halifax in Yorkshire, has previously worked for both Semta and EAL. She re-joined EAL in March following a role as director of a building services company, which she helped to grow, despite the economic downturn, through securing high profile customers and long term contracts.
Julia joins as new figures show EAL is making great strides, capturing 74% of all engineering awarding across the country.
”I can’t wait to get started,” said Julia. “EAL is making great strides equipping tens thousands of learners with robust and industry relevant skills, in order to secure the talent pipeline for the science, engineering and manufacturing technologies sectors.”
Alastair Imrie, Chair of EAL, said: “Julia brings a great deal of relevant knowledge and experience to the role and, together with colleagues at EAL, we will have the best team to deliver continuing strong EAL performance and strategy.”
