New Report Reveals How To Improve Dairy Production Yield

Listen to this article

Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group (WMFTG) has made available a new report for the dairy sector that includes valuable and practical operational information for engineers. The report entitled ‘How to improve production yield in the dairy industry: an applications guide’, is essential reading for anyone tasked with delivering cost efficiencies in this challenging sector.

Many suggest the dairy sector is currently at a turning point due to factors such as slow growth, shifting consumer tastes and growing price pressure. Indeed, according to consulting firm McKinsey, Western Europe has the most stagnant dairy market due to slow population growth and growing consumer interest in dairy alternatives. However, according to Mordor Intelligence*[1], the Asia-Pacific dairy market is showing stronger growth than other geographical regions and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 3.12% during the forecast period 2020-2025.

As a result, making advances in production yield – alongside savings in energy, water and cheese fines – can have a real impact on bottom-line profitability in a highly competitive marketplace. But how can dairy producers achieve these gains?

WMFTG’s report provides the answers. “Intended as a ‘best practice’ guide, our new white paper reveals the technologies that can make a real difference,” explains Steffen Knoedler, Senior Business Development Manager at WMFTG. “And no, this is not about complete processing line reconfigurations, but simple, modest investments that offer significant returns over a short payback period.”

Notably, the document describes a number of real-life application examples showing how a number of dairy plants in areas such as cheese and yogurt-making are already reaping the rewards. These examples report the throughput levels and savings accrued, breaking down the calculations to show the gains in detail.

Featuring relevant statistics from around the world, readers will gain valuable insight into a sector that requires new ways of unlocking profitable growth opportunities. To download the report follow the link: Dairy Processing Report

The launch of the new report coincides with a webinar ‘Using technology to increase yield in cheese manufacturing’. The webinar on 15 September 2021, will bring together an expert panel online to discuss key considerations manufactures have in choosing their processing equipment to improve yield, quality and ultimately their profitability.

About us

Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group (WMFTG) peristaltic tube and hose pumps meet requirements including: value for money; low cost of ownership; reliability and ease of maintenance to the food and beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical, mining and many other industries.

We demonstrate how pumps deliver significant process efficiencies over the lifetime of the equipment. Whether performing flavouring addition in food processing, chemical metering in water treatment or mineral recovery, we have a solution which can cut pump downtime and reduce costs through higher accuracy metering and transfer. WMFTG has dedicated application engineers available to help customers make the right pump and tubing choice from a range providing microlitres per minute to 80 cubic metres per hour flow rates.

The only part of the pump to come into contact with the product is the tube or hose. This means there are no seals or valves that can wear or fail. Replacing the tube or hose can be performed quickly and safely. Peristaltic pump benefits include:

Total fluid containment with no seals No ancillaries Handle viscous and abrasive slurries and sludge Self-priming capability Dry running without damage to the pump In addition to their range of positive displacement pumps, Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group has added PTFE-lined chemical and industrial hoses to their range. Aflex hoses are reinforced to withstand the most severe conditions and use.
