ystral showcases powder dispersion technology at POWTECH 2026

ystral is showcasing a broad range of technologies for powder dispersion in liquids at POWTECH TECHNOPHARM 2026 in Nuremberg, highlighting why there is no single solution that suits every powder processing application.

The international exhibition for technologies used to process powders, solids and liquids takes place from 29 September to 1 October 2026 at Exhibition Centre Nuremberg. ystral is exhibiting in Hall 9, Stand 431, where visitors can explore different approaches to powder induction, mixing and dispersion.

The company designs, engineers and manufactures mixing, dispersion and powder induction machines as well as complete process plants. Its technologies are used across industries including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, paints and coatings, food, home care and personal care.

At POWTECH, ystral is focusing on the breadth of available powder dispersion technologies, including methods that are less commonly used but can provide significant advantages for specific process requirements.

Powder dispersion technology for different applications

According to ystral, selecting the right technology depends on factors including the characteristics of the powder and liquid, the required process conditions and the desired product quality.

Dr Hans-Joachim Jacob, Senior Expert Process and Applications at ystral, highlights several applications where specialist technologies can provide an alternative to more widely used approaches.

“One example is the TDS Induction Mixer, which can handle extremely abrasive powders, including materials used for cutting, grinding, and polishing diamond-hard surfaces,” says Dr Hans-Joachim Jacob, “Another is the Dispermix, which enables powder induction into highly foaming liquids without introducing unwanted air into the product. And finally, there are applications that traditionally required multiple process steps or even several vessels but can now be completed in a single vessel using the High Shear Dispermix.”

The examples demonstrate how powder dispersion equipment needs to be selected according to the particular process rather than simply applying the same machine technology across different production lines.

For manufacturers working with abrasive materials, foaming liquids or processes involving multiple stages of mixing and dispersion, the choice of equipment can influence process efficiency, product quality and plant configuration.

At its POWTECH stand, ystral is presenting the YSTRAL Conti-TDS dispersing machine in various sizes alongside the continuously operating YSTRAL Coflow disperser and the YSTRAL X50 and X100 multipurpose units, among other technologies.

The company is using the exhibition to demonstrate how different powder dispersion methods can address different process requirements.

“There is no one-size-fits-all solution for powder dispersion; rather, different technologies have distinct strengths, and the best choice always depends on the specific application,” says Jacob. “At POWTECH, we want to discuss with visitors which technologies deliver the best results under specific process conditions.”

The focus is particularly relevant to process engineers evaluating powder induction and dispersion systems because powder behaviour can vary significantly depending on particle characteristics, liquid properties and the intended end product.

ystral’s current POWTECH programme also highlights technologies designed to introduce powders into liquids while reducing dust, product loss and agglomeration, as well as approaches intended to reduce processing time and energy requirements.

Powder induction and agglomeration

Effective powder dispersion involves more than simply getting a solid material into a liquid. The way powder is introduced and dispersed can influence whether agglomerates form, how quickly the material is incorporated and how consistently the finished product can be processed.

To coincide with its appearance at POWTECH, ystral has also published a new white paper examining the principles and practical challenges of dispersing powders into liquids.

In the white paper, Hans-Joachim Jacob explains the physical effects that determine powder dispersion, how agglomerates develop and how they can be prevented. The material also considers which dispersion technologies are suited to particular process requirements.

The company has also made an online seminar available covering the subject, with practical examples from industrial process engineering and guidance on designing efficient and safe dispersion processes.

The resources are intended to give process engineers and manufacturers a better understanding of the factors involved when selecting powder dispersion equipment.
