ABB’s Safety Execution Centre in Czech Republic certified by TÜV
ABB Czech Republic is the most recent Safety Execution Center implementing the TÜV recognised Functional Safety Management System extending ABB’s #1 Industry leading position for in-country accredited certification
ABB’s Safety Execution Center (SEC) in Ostrava, Czech Republic has been certified by TÜV as having in place and applying a functional safety management system (FSMS) for the delivery and implementation of safety system projects in accordance to international industry standards. These standards include IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 for integration and implementation of safety instrumented systems (SIS).
ABB further underpins its long-term commitment of developing in-country SECs with TÜV certification for FSMS delivery and implementation and continues to have more in-country accredited certification than any other supplier in the industry. These centres are located in every region of the world. Eighteen of ABB’s SECs have so far been certified by both TÜV Rheinland and TÜV Sud, as the leading world specialists in the assessment and certification of organisations and products to relevant safety standards.
The programme managed by the ABB safety lead competency centre (SLCC) continues unabated in providing a proven methodology for delivering safety systems that meet international standards and best practices, and ensures consistent, flawless execution of these safety-related projects all over the world. The ABB ‘in-country approach’ is geared to ensure that local competency assurance is developed and maintained unlike other certified schemes that rely on a single entity/country certificate and with that the potential ‘dilution’ of competency assurance therein.
In Czech Republic, ABB’s Oil and Gas business has implemented numerous safety systems for safety-related applications covering all types of protective and mitigation safety instrumented systems (SIS) such as emergency shutdown (ESD), process shutdown (PSD), fire & gas (F&G) and burner managements systems (BMS), etc.
“This certification is a key milestone in our strategic development towards becoming a broad automation and safety system execution centre. ABB”s global process automation operation center in Ostrava is continuing its growth and can now serve oil and gas customers even better”, said Anders Kornblad Operation Center Manager.
TÜV certification recognises that ABB’s FSMS complies with international standards and best practices for its products, engineering and project teams and installation methods. It meets all relevant sections of the international standards IEC 61508 and IEC 61511 for integration and implementation of safety instrumented systems, including system configuration, application programming, test and front end safety consulting for specific industrial safety applications.
ABB continues to be at the leading edge of providing functional safety project management, SIL capable products and systems, process and functional safety consultancy and operations and maintenance lifecycle service support for SIS.
