TEC digitises hose inspection and compliance with CheckedOK

Listen to this article

Ireland-based industrial and hydraulic hose specialist TEC has moved its hose inspection and compliance processes onto CheckedOK, inspection software from CoreRFID, reducing administration and reporting time for engineers by up to two hours a day.

Since implementing the platform in August 2025, TEC has also given customers instant access to hose inspection histories and compliance records in the field through an RFID and QR-enabled asset management system.

TEC supplies industrial and hydraulic hose assemblies, fittings and adaptors and provides inspection and compliance services for customers operating in regulated and safety-critical industries. As its hose inspection activities expanded, the company’s previous system became increasingly difficult to use for managing the growing volume of inspection and compliance data.

The legacy system did not support RFID and QR integration and lacked the detailed customer reporting capabilities TEC required. Rather than migrate years of historical records, TEC rebuilt its asset register from scratch within CheckedOK.

Digitising hose inspection records

TEC now has around 3,000 hose assemblies registered on the platform, with five engineers using the system as part of their day-to-day inspection activities.

Working with technology partner CoreRFID, TEC implemented RFID and QR identification to provide a digital link between individual hose assemblies and their inspection records. Engineers can access asset information while carrying out inspections, while customers can access inspection histories and compliance documentation in the field.

This provides a single current record for each hose assembly, replacing information that was previously distributed across separate systems.

“It’s quick and easy to use. Compared to what we had before, I’m saving up to two hours a day on administration and reporting activities,” said Mark Shannon, Hydraulic Hose Technician, TEC.

The reduction in administration time allows engineers to spend less time compiling inspection and reporting information following site visits. It also helps TEC provide customers with more consistent access to compliance records.

RFID and QR technology improves traceability

The implementation forms part of a wider digitalisation strategy at TEC to develop a scalable asset management proposition covering hose inspection, compliance reporting, asset identification and lifecycle management.

RFID and QR technology provides a means of identifying individual hose assemblies and connecting them directly to their digital records. This supports traceability throughout the working life of each asset and provides engineers with access to current inspection information when required.

For customers in highly regulated environments, maintaining an accurate inspection history is an important part of demonstrating equipment compliance and supporting audit processes. TEC’s new system is intended to make this information more accessible while reducing the administrative burden associated with maintaining inspection records.

“Our objective was not to simply replace software; it was to create a more scalable and customer-focused asset management solution,” says Simon Van Lonkhuyzen, CEO of TEC. “CheckedOK has provided an intuitive platform for our engineers, while the integration of RFID and QR technologies has significantly improved traceability and customer access to inspection data. Combined with our broader digitalisation strategy, the solution supports our ambition to deliver industry-leading hose lifecycle management services.”

Supporting compliance in regulated industries

TEC’s digital asset management approach is particularly relevant to sectors where hose assemblies are subject to regular inspection and where accurate records are required for compliance and auditing.

The company is targeting applications including pharmaceutical manufacturing and data centre operations, where equipment reliability, traceability and documented inspection histories can all be important operational requirements.

By combining inspection management with asset identification and digital reporting, TEC has created a platform designed to scale as the number of assets and customer requirements increase.

“CheckedOK is quick, intuitive, and effortless. The support has been excellent too; we’re not waiting weeks to hear back if something needs sorting,” said Kevin Conroy, Internal Sales, TEC.

For TEC, the move has resulted in faster and more consistent compliance reporting, improved auditability and a single up-to-date history for each hose assembly. The company can now manage inspection data, asset identification and customer reporting through a common digital platform, supporting its broader move towards lifecycle-based hose management.
