Rolling Bearings Expanded To Offer Higher Performance & Longer Life

Listen to this article

NSK has expanded its high performance standard range, known as NSKHPS rolling bearings, to bring higher load factors, smaller dimensions and greater energy efficiency to Europe´s machinery manufacturers and maintenance teams.

Although the first NSKHPS bearings were launched several years ago, today the product range is almost complete, and includes deep groove ball bearings, cylindrical roller bearings, spherical roller bearings, angular contact ball bearings, precision angular contact ball bearings and axial angular contact ball bearings. Bore diameters extend from 10 to 280 mm, with dynamic load ratings from 2.37 to 3,800 kN depending on the application.

Bearings produced to the NSKHPS design offer innovations that include the use of ultra-clean steel and advanced surface processing of the raceways and rollers.

The result is considerably higher dynamic load factors, which in turn promotes longer service life, reduced maintenance requirements and lower total cost of ownership. Further characteristics of NSKHPS bearings include increased limiting speed and very high running precision.

The new standard in NSKHPS bearings has been conceived to meet growing demand for drive components offering high performance, high rotational speeds, compact dimensions and exceptionally long service life.

Features such as the high quality surface processing also promote low friction and higher energy efficiency of the bearings. In addition, due to the higher load factors, design engineers can select a smaller NSKHPS bearing in many instances and therefore create a more compact assembly.

Designers of modern industrial drives who are seeking extended service life even under harsh conditions can now access a comprehensive range of high precision bearings in various forms.

The myriad of choices and combinations in terms of cage version, contact angle, precision, pre-tensioning and layout, for example, ensure there exists a suitable NSKHPS rolling bearing for just about every application.

About us

Established over 100 years ago, NSK (Nippon Seiko Kabushiki Kaisha) is a Japanese-listed company that has evolved from a regional ball bearing supplier to a roller bearing specialist and automotive supplier with a global market presence. Today, NSK employs more than 31,400 employees in 30 countries. As per March 2019, NSK achieved sales of 991,4 billion Yen. This result has been driven by ever-increasing investment in research & development, enabling the company to continuously improve the quality of its products and services. This investment supports NSK’s objective of “No. 1 in Total Quality”. In addition to a complete rolling bearing portfolio, NSK develops and manufactures precision components and mechatronic products, as well as systems and components for the automotive industry, including wheel bearing units and electric power-steering systems. In 1963, NSK’s first European subsidiary, Düsseldorf, Germany, was opened and in 1976, the first European production facility in Peterlee, England. Today, NSK Europe supports pan-European sales with production locations in England, Poland and Germany, logistics centres in the Netherlands, Germany and England and technology centres in Germany, England and Poland. In 1990, NSK purchased the UPI Group including the renowned European bearing manufacturer RHP, with its factory in Newark (UK). Additionally, NSK has developed a comprehensive network of authorised sales distributors. NSK Europe is divided into application-based business divisions: Industry rolling bearing technologies & linear and precision technology (EIBU) as well as bearing modules and steering systems for the automotive industry (EABU & ESBU). In this organisation, NSK Europe's 4,260 employees achieved a turnover of over 1,045 million Euros as per March 2019.
