Listen to this article

Versatile, easy to use and featuring comprehensive communication options, the new Danfoss VLT® Midi Drive FC280 is the ideal choice for an exceptionally wide range of OEM applications, including packaging systems, pumps, fans, conveyor systems, compressors and mixers. With all-pluggable connectors, this innovative drive is fast and easy to install, while its compact construction saves costly panel space.

To further enhance economy, versatility and convenience, VLT® Midi Drives feature integrated DC chokes for harmonic mitigation, built-in RFI switches that allow them to operate without problems even on IT power circuits, integrated PID controllers, built-in brake choppers (three-phase models only) and dual-channel STO (safe torque off) safety functionality. No additional components are therefore needed and there are no hidden extras to pay for.

Danfoss VLT® Midi Drives are available in single-phase versions for 200 to 240 V supplies with ratings from 0.37 to 2.2 kW, three-phase versions for 200 to 240 V with ratings from 0.37 to 3.7 kW, and three-phase versions from 380 to 480 V with ratings from 0.37 to 22 kW. All models are suitable for use not only with standard induction motors, but also with the latest high-efficiency permanent magnet motors.

For configuring the drives, users can choose either a numerical or graphical local control panel. Both control panels provide access to an intuitive parameter set-up system that makes it easy to optimise performance and energy savings. In addition, targeted selections that simplify and speed set-up and commissioning for a wide range of common applications are also provided.

The new Danfoss VLT® Midi Drives feature a USB port to allow easy connection of a PC during commissioning or for servicing. They also provide a wide range of fieldbus connectivity options including CANopen, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, Ethernet/IP and Modbus, which means that they can be readily integrated with all types of industrial automation systems.
