Tetra Pak launches Ice Cream Video Care to improve ice cream production monitoring
New digital monitoring solution gives ice cream manufacturers greater visibility, improved quality control and enhanced production efficiency
Tetra Pak has unveiled Ice Cream Video Care, an advanced digital monitoring solution developed in collaboration with Axis Communications that provides ice cream manufacturers with real-time visibility across every stage of the production process.
The new solution has been designed to help manufacturers strengthen ice cream production monitoring, improve operational efficiency, enhance product quality and support food safety by delivering continuous visual insight into areas of the production line that have traditionally been difficult or impossible to monitor safely.
Developed as part of the long-standing collaboration between Tetra Pak and Axis Communications, a global leader in network video technology, Ice Cream Video Care represents the latest innovation to emerge from the companies' six-year partnership in process monitoring for the food manufacturing industry.
Advanced camera technology transforms ice cream production monitoring
Ice Cream Video Care uses network cameras as intelligent sensors, allowing manufacturers to gain deeper operational insight and tighter control across the entire ice cream production line.
The system is built on Axis Communications' advanced IP camera technology, including Q-line dome cameras and modular F-series cameras. These cameras have been specifically designed to operate reliably in demanding food manufacturing environments where low temperatures, moisture and harsh operating conditions are common.
By combining high-resolution imaging with advanced digital monitoring, manufacturers can continuously observe critical production stages without interrupting operations or exposing personnel to unnecessary risks.
The solution supports the installation of up to 16 cameras along each ice cream production line through the AXIS Camera Station video management platform. This enables operators to carry out safe remote inspections of equipment and production processes while maintaining uninterrupted manufacturing.
Meeting growing expectations for food quality and production transparency
As consumer expectations continue to increase around food quality, consistency and manufacturing transparency, digital technologies are playing an increasingly important role in modern food production.
By introducing Ice Cream Video Care into their manufacturing operations, ice cream producers can take advantage of the latest digitalisation tools to improve process control, increase production efficiency and protect product integrity throughout the manufacturing process.
Continuous visual monitoring also enables manufacturers to identify potential issues more quickly, supporting faster decision-making and helping maintain consistent product quality.
Building on a successful process monitoring partnership
The collaboration between Tetra Pak and Axis Communications first began with camera-supported observation technology in juice filling applications. Since then, the partnership has expanded into a wider range of food manufacturing processes.
Ice Cream Video Care represents the first significant expansion of camera-based process monitoring technology into dedicated ice cream production lines, demonstrating how intelligent imaging technology can be applied across different areas of food manufacturing.
“The food industry benefits from close collaboration and a willingness to innovate together,” says Katrin Andersson, Managing Director, Tetra Pak North Europe. “Tetra Pak and Axis Communications are integrating deep knowledge of food production with advanced monitoring technology for manufacturers to gain greater insight into their operations. The result is improved efficiency, reduced waste, and better quality control which support a more productive and sustainable food industry.“
Linn Storäng, Regional Director, Northern & Eastern Europe at Axis Communications, highlights how the technology extends beyond conventional video surveillance.
“Innovation at Axis is driven by the desire to solve complex challenges in new ways,” states Linn Storäng, Regional Director, Northern & Eastern Europe at Axis Communications. “By integrating our advanced IP camera technology into Tetra Pak’s production lines, we are moving beyond traditional surveillance and using video as a powerful data source. This collaboration proves that smart, network-based imaging can thrive even in harsh, low-temperature environments, providing manufacturers with the ‘extra eyes' needed to optimise efficiency and ensure the highest standards of food safety.”
Supporting smarter food manufacturing
The launch of Ice Cream Video Care reflects the growing adoption of digital technologies across the food and beverage manufacturing sector, where manufacturers are increasingly investing in intelligent monitoring systems to improve operational performance and maintain high standards of food quality.
By combining advanced IP camera technology with real-time process monitoring, Tetra Pak and Axis Communications are providing ice cream manufacturers with greater visibility across production lines, enabling improved quality control, reduced waste, enhanced operational efficiency and more informed decision-making.
As digitalisation continues to reshape food manufacturing, solutions such as Ice Cream Video Care are helping manufacturers build smarter, more efficient and more sustainable production environments while meeting rising consumer expectations for product quality, consistency and food safety.
