Pump Distributor & Manufacturer Wins Prestigious Industry Award For Work In Process Sector
The firm, based in Billingham, UK, was this month named ‘SME of the Year – Supply Chain’ at the North East of England Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC) Annual Industry Awards Dinner 2017 held at Hardwick Hall, County Durham on January 20.
The awards, sponsored by ABB, recognise outstanding achievement in the process sector, with NEPIC – the first cluster in the UK to receive the Gold Label for Cluster Management Excellence – boasting hundreds of member companies from across a wide range of industries.
Tomlinson Hall is the first company to have been awarded the NEPIC ‘SME of the Year’ title twice, having first won the award in 2015. The firm was recognised for its development of new industry partnerships, introduction of new services, sales success for global pump brands and its contribution to and engagement with the NEPIC cluster.
A joint founding member of the Pump Distributors Association, Tomlinson Hall is an approved global distributor of many leading pump brands, such as DEPA, ELRO, Grundfos, Flux and Richter, and offers a total service to industry – including problem solving, pump selection and supply, site visits, servicing and repairs.

The NEPIC ‘SME of the Year Award’ (Supply Chain) was sponsored by Chemoxy International Ltd, and Tomlinson Hall donated its £2000 prize money to Prior’s Mill Church of England Primary School in Billingham, with which it has forged strong links.
NEPIC Director of SMEs & Supply Chain, Felix O’Hare, commented: “Although Tomlinson Hall won the NEPIC ‘SME of the Year’ Award only two years ago, they have developed their business to another level since – with further rapid sales growth, development of new industry partnerships, significant innovation in products and service and even more interaction with the NEPIC cluster. They are deserved repeat winners of the award.”
Colin Simpson, Business Development Director of Tomlinson Hall, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have been named ‘SME of the Year’ in the supply chain category, and to be honoured at these awards for the second time in two years.
“We’re proud to be long standing members of NEPIC, which does so much to develop and support the North East’s process industry, and it therefore means a great deal to be recognised by the cluster in this way. All of our staff work hard to provide a comprehensive range of services to businesses in the process sector, helping end users to overcome their industry challenges through innovation and problem solving, and this award is testimony to our team’s hard work.”
In 2016, Tomlinson Hall launched a ‘Working Together in Industry’ initiative with Denmark-headquartered Grundfos, bringing the two firms’ expertise to bear for multi-site businesses. It has also partnered with Grundfos to provide Energy Check Reports (energy saving audits) to end users. These have produced substantial energy saving opportunities for a range of businesses.
Tomlinson Hall was named Distributor of the Year in the Pump Industry Awards in 2009/10, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2016. It also won the Small Business of the Year award in 2015’s North East Business Awards.
