EMERSON UNVEILS REVOLUTIONARY TWO-WIRE MICRO MOTION CORIOLIS METER
New Model 2200S transmitter enables the use of reliable and accurate ELITE Coriolis meters virtually anywhere in your plant Emerson Process Management announces the first two-wire Micro Motion Coriolis meter, expanding the value of Coriolis to the wide range of applications that require loop-powered flow devices. The new Coriolis meters are especially valuable for upgrading older loop-powered technologies to world-leading ELITE Coriolis meters without adding more power or installing new cabling.
Having benefitted highly from Coriolis technology in the past, process engineers and managers have wanted a meter they could use more broadly. They have voted Micro Motion Coriolis four-wire devices as best-in-class based on their valuable measurement performance for batching, custody transfer, two-phase flow, and highly challenging applications. Fortunately, innovation has now realised the new two-wire Micro Motion Coriolis, a perfect solution for loop-powered flow points throughout the plant where the process can benefit from increased accuracy and reliability of Coriolis.
Bringing forth the same quality, robust features of Micro Motion Coriolis, the new two-wire meter delivers measurement accuracy, repeatability and operational savings on a level not previously possible for flow loops with older flow measurement technologies. The new meter delivers +0.10% liquid flow and +0.0005 g/cm3 liquid density accuracy in continuous process and mass balance applications. It has no moving parts and requires no maintenance.
The two-wire Micro Motion 2200S transmitter can be used with a range of Micro Motion ELITE Coriolis sensor sizes and materials of construction to deliver excellent measurement performance for continuous process applications. Suitable for integral or extended mount, the innovative loop-powered design makes for seamless integration into existing control systems and is ideal for long wiring runs and applications in hazardous areas.
Equipped with MVD digital processing technology, the Micro Motion 2200S transmitter delivers multivariable and diagnostic information via HART communications for reduced costs through improved process consistency and maximised uptime. Front-end digital processing dramatically reduces signal noise and gives you a faster response time compared to analogue devices. Micro Motion two-wire Coriolis is ideally suited for use in the chemical, petrochemical and refining industries, and for continuous process and mass balance applications.
“The introduction of Emersons two-wire Coriolis transmitter represents a significant milestone in the development of Micro Motion measurement technologies. We know that customers have been waiting for a breakthrough that would enable them to replace previous generation two-wire flow meters with highly accurate and reliable Coriolis meters – without incurring the costs of additional wiring and power,” said Tom Moser, president, Micro Motion division of Emerson Process Management. “This new development expands the range of plant applications to adopt Coriolis technology – and does so with the worlds best performing Coriolis device.”
The Model 2200S transmitter is suitable for a range of process conditions and has CSA Class1 Division 1 or 2 approvals, and ATEX, IECEx, NEPSI Zone 1 and Zone 2 approvals. To facilitate installation in hazardous areas, Micro Motion offers the Model 505 level-shifting power supply, or is compatible with a range of third-party barrier devices. Finally, the Micro Motion Model 2200S is also available with an optional 316L stainless steel enclosure suited for harsh environments, such as applications in the offshore and marine industries.
Micro Motion Coriolis meters lead the process manufacturing industry in quality, measurement performance, and reliability, and are part of Emersons broad range of intelligent, digital field devices that power the PlantWeb digital plant architecture. Further cost savings, increased plant availability, and enhanced safety and environmental compliance are achieved when the meters are integrated into the PlantWeb digital plant architecture.
