Emerson Introduces New Range of High Performance Coriolis Meters for Chemical Injection Applications
New robust Micro Motion® ELITE® Coriolis meters deliver reliable measurement performance for the oil & gas industry
Emerson Process Management has developed a new range of Micro Motion® ELITE® Coriolis meters designed specifically for low flow, high precision applications. The new Micro Motion meters are ideal for monitoring and control of chemical additive injection rates for treatment and flow assurance programmes. These Micro Motion ELITE meters deliver +0.05% liquid flow accuracy, +0.35% gas accuracy, and +0.0005 g/cc liquid density accuracy for injection rates of 2 kg/h to 330 kg/h.
Chemical injection typically consists of applications that are multi-fluid with a wide range of flow rates, meaning measurement devices must deliver high turndown capability with uncompromising measurement performance in varying real-world conditions. These low flow injection applications require meters to be highly reliable and suited to the demands of high operating pressure and offshore environments. The new Micro Motion Coriolis ELITE meters have been precisely engineered with these exact challenges in mind, offering measurement stability and robustness with Coriolis sensor tubes rated to 413 bar (6,000 psi) for high-pressure applications. Full secondary containment ensures safety, and a polished 316L stainless steel external surface and rounded corners deliver superior corrosion resistance, which is ideal for offshore environments.
The performance advantage of the Micro Motion ELITE Coriolis meters comes from the state-of-the-art sensor design and powerful electronics that ensure fast and noise-free signal processing. The electronics deliver the best available two-phase flow, and empty-full-empty batching measurement capabilities.
The new Micro Motion ELITE Coriolis is available with 4-wire or 2-wire electronics, perfect for replacement upgrades of older loop-powered flow technologies – without the need to add more power or install new cabling.
Other measurement technologies used historically in low flow injections are often unable to deliver the desired results. Metering pumps and positive displacement meters require routine maintenance and calibration that necessitate their periodic removal from service, and don’t provide the inherent accuracy of direct mass measurement. Micro Motion Coriolis meters have no moving parts and are virtually maintenance-free, minimising the cost of operation and overall cost of ownership. Because maintenance does not involve disassembling the meter, safety and environmental hazards are avoided. Calibration is only required on an as-needed basis, rather than as part of a regular schedule.
Because of the inherent nature of multi-variable measurement, Micro Motion Coriolis meters eliminate the need to install auxiliary temperature transmitters for volume correction or general process monitoring. Volume measurement is derived from direct mass and density measurements under process conditions. Micro Motion Coriolis meters also offer in-situ meter verification technology, a complete assessment of meter performance (from the sensor through to the electronics) at the touch of a button, resulting in less field interventions and costs associated with maintenance and operations.
