Making a start in PROFIBUS
The PROFIBUS and PROFINET User Conference, taking place from 16-17 June this year in Stratford-on-Avon, is the ideal place for engineers in modern process and manufacturing plant to gain an introduction to these fieldbus techniques. The event this year will include a “Beginners” Track” featuring a number of presentations and hands-on practical workshops specially developed for people new to the subject. These will be clearly indicated with a “B” on the programme.
In addition all delegates to the conference will be presented with a free copy of presenter James Powell”s new book, Catching the Process Fieldbus: An Introduction to PROFIBUS. James is the PS2 Communications Product Manager for Siemens, based at their Milltronics operation in Canada, and is well known from interesting presentations made in previous years about his experiences in installing level measurement and control systems using PROFIBUS. This new book is designed to speak to the beginner, to take that interested newbie by the hand and guide him/her through the bus route to communication success. However, this is not a how-to manual. Rather, think of it as a primer laying the groundwork for communication design, providing information for the curious to explore and motivation for the dedicated to go further.
A Certificate of Attendance will be issued to all delegates to add to their professional training records. In addition, all delegates will be entered into our free Prize Draw, with the opportunity to win prizes, including places on the Certified PROFIBUS Installer and Commissioning and Maintenance Courses, donated by Andy Verwer of the PROFIBUS Competence Centre at MMU. The exhibition in parallel with the conference and workshops will present interactive displays and technology demonstrations from the UK”s PROFIBUS Competence Centre, and from leading product vendors, trainers, consultants and systems integrators specialising in PROFIBUS and PROFINET systems and technology.
