Fike expands its line of passive explosion protection solutions

Listen to this article

Fike has recently expanded its line of passive explosion protection solutions, with the introduction of an Explosion Diverter.
When deflagrations are allowed to propagate through pipes, they have a high probability of transitioning from a deflagration into a full detonation.  This resulting explosion can not only damage the pipeline and accessories, but also make adequate protection of downstream process equipment (e.g. Dust Collectors, Dryers and Silos) virtually impossible.

The Fike Explosion Diverter limits the effects of explosions propagating through pipes to an acceptable and safe level by diverting the pressure wave and minimizing downstream pressure development (pressure piling).   While the Diverter is not a flame isolation device (mechanical or chemical isolation system) it does reduce the catastrophic effects of flame jet ignition in the vessel.   This allows the use of other protective techniques and enables the design engineer to use standard industry codes (such as NFPA, EN, VDI) to size the protection systems on the interconnected process equipment.
Available in 9 nominal sizes available ranging from DN100 to DN600, the Fike Explosion Diverter is an exciting addition to Fike’s complete line of explosion protection solutions.
