npower helps businesses have their say in key energy consultation
npower is urging businesses to have their say in the Department of Business Innovation and Skills’ (BIS) consultation on the Energy Intensive Industries (EIII) Package. The consultation provides an opportunity for businesses to help shape the scheme’s future and npower has launched a survey to capture feedback.
The EII Package is a £210 million compensation scheme that aims to help businesses offset the indirect costs of the Carbon Price Floor (CPF) and the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). BIS has launched a consultation to source businesses’ views on its eligibility criteria for allocating the compensation to those most at risk of carbon leakage.
Businesses can have their say on the scheme and its eligibility criteria by completing npower’s online survey bit.ly/V3VLhh or they can submit their views directly to Government online at bit.ly/UplIv7.
npower has already consulted with large businesses to ensure they have their voices heard on the scheme and is submitting a comprehensive report detailing the findings to BIS as part of the consultation. The results of its online survey will be included within this document.
Wayne Mitchell, industrial and commercial markets director, npower, commented: “It’s important that UK businesses are given a voice in energy market decisions that impact them. We know that many businesses are time-stretched and while they want to have their say, it may not be possible to respond directly to BIS. Our online survey is designed as a quick and easy way to feedback to Government. I would urge businesses not to miss out on this opportunity and have their say now.”
The npower survey closes on 5 December ahead of the consultation deadline of 21 December 2012.
