THE RADAR SOLUTION FOR ACCURATE MEASUREMENT OF LOW DIELECTRIC, HIGHLY VISCOUS MEDIA

Listen to this article

Magnetrols Enhanced Eclipse Model 705 liquid level transmitter is now available with the first coaxial GWR probe suitable for measuring liquids with a viscosity up to 1500 cP.

This enlarged coaxial probe with a 45 mm inner diameter offers the same measurement efficiency as the traditional 22 mm diameter standard coaxial probe.

As with any GWR probe, changing specific gravity and shifting dielectric constant have no effect on its performance. The optional replacement of all spacers by one single spacer at the bottom of the probe is a significant advantage of this more rugged construction.

The enlarged Eclipse coaxial GWR probe provides outstanding performance regardless of the installation and will resist high viscosity. This “special” version is beneficial for applications with extreme build-up.

Coaxial GWR probes in general are considered as the most efficient measurement probes but not ideal for use on liquids with high viscosity. Less efficient probes such as double or single rod probes are often used in such applications.

These probes are less sensitive and have a higher likeliness to deviant measurements of liquids with lower dielectrics. Especially with single rod probes the location of installation is important for obtaining a good measurement.

The enlarged coaxial GWR probe is available in various models, and can be used for overall level or interface level measurement. Model offerings include temperatures and pressures up to +430C/430 bar.

The high measurement efficiency enables the enlarged coaxial GWR probe to measure liquids with dielectrics as low as 1,4. Like the standard model, it is available in 316/316L (1.4401/1.4404), Hastelloy C (2.4819) and Monel (2.4360).

All Eclipse 705 GWR probes (including the enlarged coaxial) are overfill safe. This construction allows accurate measurement up to the process connection, which mechanically prevents signal loss in the critical zone.
