New AC10 Micro Drive from Parker Hannifin offers uncompromising performance in an economical and compact design to machine builders

Listen to this article

Parker, the global leader in motion and control technologies, has introduced a new variable frequency AC10 Micro Drive which offers straightforward yet adept motor control in everyday applications requiring speed or torque control within the power range of 0.2 to 15 kW. One of the smallest micro drives available, typical applications for AC10 are set to include conveyors, centrifuges, fans, mixers, packaging machines and textile machines to name but a few.

Offering extremely compact dimensions and features normally only associated with higher specification drives, AC10 provides an optimised solution for OEM machine builders seeking a cost-effective drive without any compromise in performance. Among the many functional benefits for AC10 Micro Drive users include auto-tuning sensor less vector mode, which takes the device beyond simple V/Hz motor control. This advanced feature allows users requiring greater dynamic speed or torque control for their application to benefit from the drives enhanced 0.5% speed and 5% torque accuracy.
Other important features include output frequency up to 650 Hz, three-phase 400-volt supplies in all five-frame sizes and a full 150% overload for 1 minute. In addition, AC10 is designed to reduce the time and effort required to install, set-up and commission using its integrated keypad.
The new micro drive gives users the inherent energy-saving benefits of using a variable frequency drive, as well as the improved reliability and extended service life benefits associated with smoother starting and stopping of regularly cycling loads. Thanks to its conformally-coated PCBs, AC10 is able to withstand even the most arduous class 3C3 environment, with which many other drives in this class would struggle.
An ideal complement to AC10 is Parker’s MR Series of AC induction motors, which are IE2 efficient and start from a power range of 0.09 kW.
