Safety and Risk Management Specialist invests in Consequence Modelling
In response to customer demand, safety and risk management specialist GexCon has announced a major investment in its services in consequence modelling to meet the increasing compliance needs of high-hazard chemical and engineering industries.
From its network in the UK, the company is extending its services in consequence modelling and high hazard risk and safety management.
Meanwhile, a major milestone has been reached with the completion of the re-development of the main area for testing at its unique island test site at Sotra in Bergen, Norway.
The next stage will be the building of the workshop hall and then a new laboratory and offices, including a control-room building.
Dave Price, CEO of GexCon UK, said: “This development of our services goes hand-in-glove with the expansion of our test facilities to ensure we stay ahead of customer demand in complex consequence modelling for the high-hazard industries. We continue to push the boundaries of what is possible to reduce and manage risk on behalf of our customers.”
The test site at Sotra will be eight times larger than the existing facility, including extended testing facilities and infrastructure and state-of-the-art laboratory measurement equipment.
New indoor facilities will also be added for mechanical work, and to allow for expanded operations during winter months, while further services will include large-scale gas explosion and dispersion tests, course activities and live demonstrations.
GexCon’s experts also carry out tests and certify equipment to ensure it is not an effective ignition source itself under EU directive 94/9/EC, known as the ATEX product directive, in addition to validating and testing systems which fall under Category 1 Explosion Prevention and Protection Systems.
Meanwhile, GexCon has recently announced details of the expansion of its network across the UK, including new offices in London, led by Dr Prankul Middha, general manager for consulting, who holds diverse experience in safety and risk management.
Over the last 40 years, GexCon has been involved in the investigation of many high profile accidents such as Buncefield, Piper Alpha, TWA 800, and the P-36 platform in Brazil.
GexCon can assist in identifying hazards, mitigating risks and contributing to improving clients’ safety performance with a tailor-made and individual approach as well as providing training across its range of services.
