Emerson celebrates long standing relationship with BSI which has provided a platform for quality improvement across its Leicester facility
Emerson Process Management has been presented with a special award by BSI Management Systems, the global Standards Certification body, in recognition of the two companies having worked together for over 22 years. The award was presented to Emerson at its Leicester facility as part of an event to celebrate the close relationship, which has provided a platform for quality improvement across the organisation.

Also being presented at the event were certificates for ISO14001 Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety. This means that Emerson now holds four internationally recognised standards for Quality, Environment and Health and Safety at its Leicester facility.
“This award recognises Emersons long standing commitment to our management systems, certification and training,” said Andrew Morris, BSI Business Development Director for UK Management Systems. “When we started to work together 22 years ago, Emersons management team had the vision to recognise the value that international standards bring in terms of commercial benefits. Emerson is an excellent example of a company that has embraced our standards as a cornerstone of its quality and health and safety policies.”
“We would like to thank BSI for its help and guidance in achieving compliance with these standards,” said Peter Cave, Quality Manager UK & Ireland and Coordinating Manager for Health & Safety, Emerson Process Management. “This recent success means that the Leicester facility is the first within Emerson worldwide to achieve compliance with all four standards.”
The ISO 14001 standard specifies the requirements for an environmental management system. It applies to those environmental aspects which the organisation has under its control and over which it can be expected to have an influence. These include recycling, energy efficiency, packaging, water usage and waste reduction.
OHSAS 18001 gives the requirements for an occupational health and safety management system to enable an organisation to identify and control its OH&S risks and continually improve its performance.
These standards complement the companys existing certification to the ISO:9001:2000 Quality Standard which was gained in 2002 and ISO/TS 29001:2003 quality standard for the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries which was awarded in 2006. Emerson achieved a first with certification to ISO/TS 29001 being the first organisation worldwide to be awarded this standard by BSI.
