Integration of wireless switchgear in Ethernet networks

Listen to this article

As wireless technology spreads through industrial automation, possible connections to superordinate communication networks are also on the increase. One example of this is the TCP/IP receiver being presented by the steute business division Wireless at the SPS IPC Drives.

This bidirectional gateway enables switchgear from the steute Wireless range to be connected to terminals which communicate via the universal Internet/Ethernet protocol TCP/IP. It can receive and pass on signals from up to 40 sensors.
The interface corresponds to the IEEE 802.3 standard, with a transmission rate of 100/10 Mbit/s. Configuration of the wireless Ethernet gateway takes place via a web-based interface which supports both initial operation and diagnosis. The gateway is linked using a RJ45 connector.
The TCP/IP receiver is available in three versions: for the sWave 868 and sWave 915 wireless technologies developed by steute especially for industry, as well as for the EnOcean standard which is frequently found in the context of building automation. It is also well suited to use in combination with all the switches, sensors and push-buttons in the steute Wireless range.
