Internet of Things Adds Different Dimension to Filter Manufacturing

Listen to this article

The application developed on the Solair IoT application platform has provided a competitive advantage throughout the supply chain in the filter manufacturing sector.

Wylmco is an Italian company specialised in selling digital pressure gauges. Wylmco needed to offer added value to differentiate their pressure gauges to provide their customers, including Aerofiltri (a provider of high quality filters for painting and air conditioning), a technologically advanced solution that could make the difference on the market compared to competing products. With this goal in mind the company saw the IoT as a new way of competing.

Wylmco saw Solair and its cloud-based platform for developing IoT applications as a partner that could add further value and services to their products.

Wylmco and Solair’s aim was to connect the digital pressure gauge to the Internet in order to receive the data collected in the field via web and to integrate it into business logic in order to provide a better service to Aerofiltri customers (Aerofiltri sells high quality products both directly to its customers and via their indirect channel of installers and technicians).

Together with Wylmco, Solair developed an application on its IoT Application Platform which not only allows the data to be received through the cloud and monitor the filter pressure and a lot of other information transmitted by the pressure gauge, but also to issue warnings when the filter is saturated or is near saturation point, in order to carry out routine maintenance in the first case and predictive maintenance in the second.

The possibility of integrating other data in the platform relating to customers, distributors, technicians and the filters installed in various machines means that Aerofiltri can also use the technology developed by Solair together with Wylmco to manage records relating to customers, technicians and products just like in a management system. The possibility of doing all this with just one application saves a lot of time and means that the direct and indirect sales network can be managed better.

Aerofiltri, that is currently working on an e-commerce site, is evaluating the possibility of developing the platform further with Solair to be able to integrate it with e-commerce in the future.
