New Oil Test & Measurement Laboratory Opens in Cyprus

Global Testing & Inspection Organisation Expands its Service Network for European Customers with New Office and Laboratory in CyprusInspectorate, global leaders in testing and inspection for the oil and gas industry, announced today the opening of an extensive new testing facility in Cyprus, specialising initially in the in the testing of gasoline, diesel, and gas oil.

Strategically located close to the oil terminal at Vasiliko Bay, midway between Larnaca and Limassol, the laboratory and inspection office will provide services to major traders, integrated oil companies and energy suppliers requiring support for their onshore and offshore blending activities. The laboratory will also provide analytical services to the local market.

The new laboratory is operational and has full testing capabilities for Gasoline (EN 228), Automotive Diesel (EN 590), Marine Fuel Oil and Gasoil (ISO 8217). By the end of April 2016, full capability for the testing of Jet A1 to the latest issue of DEF STAN 91-91 will also have been commissioned.

“By utilising the expertise and knowledge acquired through expanding our European footprint with other testing facilities, such as Athens in 2015, we are well placed to deliver high-quality services from the Cyrpus laboratory” said Michael Sterghiou, the Regional Director of Inspectorate´s South East Europe operations.

Staffed by very experienced senior technicians from other Inspectorate laboratories in Europe and supported by the Group´s central technical team, the laboratory´s mode of operation will ensure fast sample turn-around times and value adding technical advice for customers. A dedicated team of highly trained marine surveyors is also on-hand to provide sampling and quantity inspection round-the-clock as required, both onshore and offshore.
