Plastics Manufacturer Achieves Major Energy Savings
Advanced hydraulic oil helps to save $3,000 per year
- Manufacturing company switched to Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 68
- Aimed to reduce power consumption and cut carbon footprint
- Advanced lubricant designed to optimise high pressure hydraulic systems
A leading manufacturer of durable plastics has realised significant savings at its production plant as a result of switching to Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ 68. The introduction of the high performance hydraulic oil helped to enhance overall hydraulic efficiency, resulting in energy savings of 4.28%[1].
The company, which produces plastic buckets, pails and drums, operates machines with clamping strengths from 30 to 650 tonnes. In order to reduce the company’s power consumption and cut its carbon footprint, ExxonMobil’s field engineers suggested a trial of Mobil DTE 10 Excel™ in one of the manufacturer’s Windsor Armour 150 tonne injection moulding machines.
Formulated with extensive laboratory and in-service field testing, Mobil DTE 10 Excel Series high performance anti-wear hydraulic oils are designed specifically to meet the needs of modern, high pressure, industrial and mobile equipment hydraulic systems. They can help provide quantifiable increases in hydraulic efficiency compared to conventional hydraulic oils.
The month-long trial at the customer site showed that switching hydraulic fluid improved the overall efficiency of the machine compared with the previous lubricant. This improved energy efficiency, which resulted in an overall annual saving of $3,000.
“Plastics manufacturing is a highly competitive and challenging sector, so to remain competitive companies must explore every avenue to optimise their operation,” said Mohamed Mourad, industrial marketing advisor EAME at ExxonMobil. “Lubricants are a small part of a plant’s maintenance costs, but they can have a significant impact on both productivity and efficiency – resulting in long-term savings for your operation.”
