HMD Kontro Manufacture Sizeable Sealless Pumps

With impeller sizes of up to 530 mm / 21” and power outputs of almost half a kilowatt (450 watts) magnetic drive pumps have really grown up. As a result, they can handle much higher duties and so provide the benefits of sealless technology to many more applications and services

The operating parameters have significantly increased in recent years. HMD Kontrohave really pushed the boundaries to allow high flow rates, high pressures and temperatures of up to 450°C (840°F) with the Torque Ring design and 315°C (600°F) with the Synchronous format. and temperatures down to -100°C (-150°F) can be comfortably accommodated.

An HMD Kontro sealless pump can now easily manage flows up to 1,000 m³ / hour (4400 USGPM) or generate differential heads in excess of 350 metres (1140 feet). Although sealless pumps have been widely used for hot and hazardous liquids, they are increasingly being installed in applications that would normally utilise a mechanical sealed pump. Whilst the capital cost is sometimes higher for a magnetic drive pump, the lifetime cost is usually significantly lower.

Thanks to continuing improvements in manufacturing techniques and processes, this has resulted in relatively short delivery times now being available from the company.
