SANDVIK ACHIEVES TOP SCORES IN ITS ACHILLES’ VERIFY UTILITIES ASSESSMENT

A 100% score on its quality systems was the highlight for Sandvik Materials Technology UK as it achieved top marks in the Achilles’ UVDB (Utilities Vendor Database) Verify scheme, following close on its highly successful oil & gas sector audit.

In the recently conducted independent assessment at the company’s Halesowen, West Midlands facility, Sandvik also recorded an impressive 91% for its health and safety practices and 95.16% for its environmental capabilities.

The UVDB scheme has over 175 utilities listed and is one of Achilles’ largest customer groups covering power generation, transmission and distribution, nuclear, water, telecoms and gas industries. It helps to improve the efficiency of the procurement cycle reducing cost, time and administrative workload. At the same time it promotes health and safety, environmental management and wider corporate responsibility in the supply chain.

UVDB provides utilities with reports that are directly comparable, giving extensive savings on external assessment costs when looking at a potential supplier. In doing so it allows purchasers to make a fair comparison of suppliers and to identify those who exceed expectation, rather than just meet a minimum certified standard.

Powered by Achilles, the scheme contributes to raising industry standards and reducing the burden of repetitive audits by replacing them with a single, shared audit, which is valid for up to two years.
