A comprehensive and rapid actuator retrofit for E.ON’s German power plant, Franken 1 was completed by SIPOS Aktorik. In just four weeks, 80 pipeline valves were replaced, 120 original actuators were removed and 200 new SIPOS Flash 5 electric actuators mounted and commissioned.
The 790 MW power plant’s control system is managed by Siemens. SIPOS collaborated closely in the commissioning of complete units, demonstrating its total service support capabilities.
Commenting on the company’s success managing this prestigious power industry contract, Holger Scholz, a key account manager for SIPOS said:
“Minimising disruption and avoiding down-time is key to success in the power sector and the flexibility of both our engineers and our products have been pivotal in the success of this project.
“Competency in retrofitting actuators is important for the power sector as fossil fired plant efficiency is central to carbon footprint reduction and competititiveness of plant production is improved. Following the actuator retrofit At E.ON’s Franken 1, efficiency was enhanced by 1.5%.”
Previously part of Siemens, SIPOS Aktorik has supplied specialist actuators to the power industry for over thirty years. Credentials include work for five of the world’s largest nuclear power plants.
