Savona Provisions, the specialist ingredient supplier to the food service sector has turned to Solarsoft Business Systems, a leading provider of enterprise software and IT services to distributors and manufacturers worldwide, to supply an online sales facility and enhance its customer service offering.

Recent media reports rank the UK as the most Internet- based economy among the countries of the G20, and with online commerce continuing to grow, the popular experience of easy-to-use Internet purchasing has created increased pressure on companies looking to serve business customers online.

Savona, which is based in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, has been supplying UK chefs and caterers for more than 50 years and is now set to offer online ordering using Solarsoft’s Web Sales system.  Savona provides a wide range of products including juices, bottled water and beverages, confectionery, desserts, sauces and dressings, dairy products, plus cooking ingredients such as flour, herbs and spices, pasta and rice, as well as non-food kitchen supplies.

Ken Knowland, managing director of Savona Provisions, explains:  “While we’ve been an integral part of the food service sector for many years, we believe the time is now right to offer online ordering to our customers.  In particular, we’re finding many of the younger chefs are using smart phones in their daily working lives and it is important we make ordering an easy and straightforward process for them and something they can do at the most convenient time.

“With weekends being so busy for the catering trade, many chefs like to order the products and ingredients they need for the week ahead on Sunday afternoons when it is quiet, and we believe having online ordering will prove to be very popular with our customers.

“We have worked with Solarsoft for a number of years as they supply our core ERP system and the new Web Sales software is not only very good value for money, it is state-of-the-art and integrates seamlessly with our existing set-up.  We really can’t ‘see the join’ as the whole system looks and feels very professional and is easy to use.   I believe it will play a key role in helping us take our business to the next level with online sales.”

Alan Proudfoot, Solarsoft account manager added:  “Web Sales has been designed to help businesses like Savona develop a powerful and profitable online presence by driving customer loyalty, increasing sales and reducing costs, as it offers full integration between the online shop and back-office operations.

“The latest version of Web Sales includes improved product management tools, dynamic stock controls, more payment options (including credit cards) and enhancements to the user interface.  We believe Savona’s customers will particularly benefit from real-time stock levels and customer-specific pricing.  With the ability to service retail sales and trade accounts from a single system, all customers will have direct access to account history, downloadable invoices, statements and open order details.”
