Specialist one-stop RFID service launched

Software application, engineering and consulting company Red Ledge has launched a service for industry that provides “highly practical, specialist advice on every step of the RFID adoption process, from label/tag, equipment and software selection to process design, installation and training” says Red Ledge. The service also includes trials in which companies can pilot RFID, assess its suitability for their organisation and familiarise themselves with the technology – plus user workshops in which organisations can learn more about RFID. Business interest in RFID has been growing as the cost of the technology continues to fall, and the number of retail, manufacturing, supply chain, and other, distributed-asset RFID users is increasing: yet it remains a specialist technology that its exponents have a duty to share more widely, as RFID-powered solutions have been shown to increase business efficiency and reduce operational costs by as much as a third, says Red Ledge. The global RFID market is forecast to grow at 22.4% per annum (CAGR) to 2018, according to Infiniti Research.

According to ‘RFID Journal’: “Eventually, RFID will permeate the enterprise in the same way computers have done. Just as every employee has a desktop or laptop and a smartphone, every tool, container, subassembly and vehicle will have a passive or active RFID tag attached to it, allowing it to be tracked and managed. And this data will be available throughout the enterprise, via the corporate networks that have been introduced throughout the past 20 years”.
