CHECKING TRAPS IS NOW EVEN EASIER
The all-new Gestra VKP 40 TRAPtest steam trap monitor is the simplest method yet of detecting failed or under-performing traps in-situ, making it ideal for engineers to identify and isolate problems as part of routine troubleshooting or when undertaking full inspections within a planned maintenance programme.
The VKP 40 is designed for universal application covering all makes and kinds of steam traps as it detects and evaluates ultrasonic vibrations on the casing surface of the trap during operation.
These vibrations are compared against pre-sets for fully functional traps and a graphic presentation of the measurement results is displayed on an illuminated LCD screen in the form of a standing curve. An integrated temperature measurement facility has also been added to the VKP40 to help identify obstructed (banked-up) traps.
With just five operating keys providing the user interface, the hand-held terminal is now even easier to use than previous models and no special knowledge is required to interpret the steam trap report.
Data is stored for downloading to a PC using the dedicated software supplied, that records performance data of individual traps and is a valuable asset for planning maintenance schedules, back-up stock holding and economic analysis.
The IP65 rated casing of VKP 40 makes it robust and suitable for use in almost all industrial environments with the option of the VKP 40Ex version developed especially for hazardous area usage.
With steam trap failure and malfunction still one of the most common forms of energy and performance loss, making regular checks can help avoid costly downtime and escalating fuel bills.
