New PROFINET-enabled pumps from Watson-Marlow enable seamless integration of fluid delivery up to enterprise-level
- 530, 630 and 730 pumps are now PROFINET-enabled
- Industrial Ethernet provides real time process information for enhanced productivity
- Network dosing and dispensing features avoid network lags
- Reduce system cost and complexity by using the pump as a gateway to sensor data
Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group (WMFTG) is extending its industrial Ethernet control offer by making PROFINET available on its 530, 630 and 730 series of cased peristaltic pumps. This additional communication capability allows customers to access fast, accurate performance data and seamless connectivity with modern PLC control systems and the Internet of Things (IoT) using either EtherNet/IP™ or PROFINET®.
Industry’s transition to digitalisation is emanating from the need to improve process performance, reduce operating costs and minimise downtime. With Watson-Marlow’s extended range of PROFINET-enabled process pumps for digital network control, users no longer need digital gateways, adaptors or expensive PLC interface cards. Instead, by using the pump as a gateway to sensor data, it is possible to reduce system cost and complexity.
These pumps include network dispensing functions, allowing users to create dispensing and dosing recipes which can be controlled and adjusted remotely or through the pump HMI. This capability ensures accurate and repeatable dosing and filling for optimal process performance.
The pumps feature a direct interface to third-party pressure and flow sensors. This extended, smart communication capability enables users to read information across their network via the pump. It is also possible to set local control limits, offering a simple, cost-effective way to safeguard process integrity through independent performance monitoring.
Watson-Marlow’s 530, 630 and 730 Industrial Ethernet pump range is fully compatible with advanced distributed control systems and leading brands of PLC, including Rockwell Automation, Emerson (Delta-V), Siemens and Beckhoff. Furthermore, the pumps support a broad range of sensor technologies such as Krohne, Pendotech, Sonotec and Em-tec for single-use biopharma as well as Parker Hannifin and Balluff for process industries.

About us
Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group (WMFTG) peristaltic tube and hose pumps meet requirements including: value for money; low cost of ownership; reliability and ease of maintenance to the food and beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical, mining and many other industries.
We demonstrate how pumps deliver significant process efficiencies over the lifetime of the equipment. Whether performing flavouring addition in food processing, chemical metering in water treatment or mineral recovery, we have a solution which can cut pump downtime and reduce costs through higher accuracy metering and transfer. WMFTG has dedicated application engineers available to help customers make the right pump and tubing choice from a range providing microlitres per minute to 80 cubic metres per hour flow rates.
The only part of the pump to come into contact with the product is the tube or hose. This means there are no seals or valves that can wear or fail. Replacing the tube or hose can be performed quickly and safely. Peristaltic pump benefits include:
Total fluid containment with no seals No ancillaries Handle viscous and abrasive slurries and sludge Self-priming capability Dry running without damage to the pump In addition to their range of positive displacement pumps, Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Group has added PTFE-lined chemical and industrial hoses to their range. Aflex hoses are reinforced to withstand the most severe conditions and use.
