New Electric Solutions Brochure from Babcock Wanson Supports Customer Decarbonisation Journey

Listen to this article

The Babcock Wanson Group, of which Babcock Wanson UK is a founding company, has just released a new brochure dedicated to its fast-growing portfolio of electrical solutions for industrial heat and steam production. This is a very timely launch as companies across the UK and Europe accelerate the move to cleaner, more sustainable energy systems.

With demand for practical and commercially viable decarbonization technologies continuing to rise, the new Electric Solutions brochure provides a detailed guide to Babcock Wanson's electric boiler offering and the significant role these systems can play in the delivery of sustainable and cost-effective heat generation.

It explains how industrial processes, which have traditionally been fuelled by fossil fuels, can now be supplied with advanced, high-efficiency electrical technologies, enabling companies to meet environmental responsibilities without compromising on operational reliability or performance.

Comprehensive Overview of the Electric Boiler Portfolio

The brochure gives in-depth information on Babcock Wanson's complete range of electric boiler solutions, starting with its high-voltage electrode boilers. Such powerful systems are capable of delivering steam at pressures up to 85 barg with outputs up to 75MW.

They offer exceptionally fast start-up times with zero on-site emissions and an efficiency topping 99%. These boilers represent one of the most effective solutions available today for energy-intensive processes seeking to decarbonise without sacrificing output.

In addition to the high-voltage product range, the catalogue presents a broad offering of low-voltage immersion heater boilers. These models are designed for applications calling for lower input power and steam flow, while still offering the precise control, ease of installation, and rugged reliability that industrial customers demand.

The e-Pack system is presented as a very adaptable zero-emission electric boiler with the ability to provide up to 12 tonnes of steam per hour for operations needing a flexible or more tailored approach. Its modular design makes it suitable for a wide variety of industries seeking a scalable route to electrification.

Meanwhile, the VAP-EL offers a compact, skid-mounted option to fit smaller-scale steam demands or specialised applications where space and installation time are critical factors.

Flexible Hybrid Solutions for a Pragmatic Energy Transition

Recognising that the path to complete electrification is not always instant or indeed practical in all cases, the brochure also introduces Babcock Wanson's hybrid heating solutions. These provide the ability to retrofit both new and existing fire-tube boilers with electric auxiliary heating systems.

This hybrid configuration provides the potential for businesses to seamlessly switch between electricity and conventional fuels depending on cost, availability, or regulatory pressures. It offers a pragmatic and secure route to decarbonisation, ensuring energy resilience while incrementally reducing emissions.

Expert Insight from Babcock Wanson

Commenting on the publication of the new brochure, Etienne Fourie, Technical Sales Manager for Babcock Wanson UK's Process Engineering Division, said:

“Our new Electrical Solutions brochure demonstrates the breadth of innovation and engineering expertise we have developed to support industry in its transition to clean energy. From large-scale electrode boilers to compact hybrid add-ons, we are offering practical, efficient and future-proofed solutions that enable manufacturers to significantly reduce their carbon footprint while retaining the flexibility they need in a changing energy landscape.”

Digital Integration and the Economic Case for Electrification

Another feature of the brochure is a description of how Babcock Wanson's electrical systems integrate with sophisticated digital monitoring technologies. These tools enable companies to monitor their performance in an intelligent way, pick up optimisation opportunities and participate in new markets for grid services that reward flexible energy use.

The wider economic benefits of electrification are also outlined in the brochure, including lower exposure to volatility in global gas markets, plus access to grants, incentives, and funding streams across Europe for low-carbon technologies. These are financial considerations that are increasingly important to businesses looking to future-proof their energy strategy.
