Emerson has expanded its industrial flame detection portfolio with the launch of a new flameproof version of the Rosemount™ 965 Flame Detector, providing hazardous area certification for applications that demand reliable hydrocarbon flame detection in some of the world's most challenging operating environments.
The latest addition to the Rosemount 965 range has been developed to support a wider variety of industrial fire protection applications across the oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical and process manufacturing sectors. By combining hazardous location certification with Emerson's proven QuadSense™ infrared detection technology, factory calibrated for life operation and extensive system integration capabilities, the new detector offers greater flexibility for engineers designing and maintaining industrial fire and gas detection systems.
The new flameproof model enables organisations to deploy the Rosemount 965 in hazardous environments while maintaining a practical balance between fast flame detection, reduced maintenance requirements and installation flexibility. QuadSense technology delivers reliable hydrocarbon flame detection
At the heart of the Rosemount 965 Flame Detector is Emerson's QuadSense technology, which uses four independent infrared sensors to accurately distinguish genuine hydrocarbon flames from non-flame background radiation. This advanced detection capability helps minimise nuisance alarms while maintaining dependable fire detection performance in demanding industrial environments.
Under specified operating conditions, the detector is capable of identifying hydrocarbon fires at distances of up to 45 metres (150 feet), with response times typically achieved in less than five seconds. Five selectable sensitivity levels also allow users to optimise detector performance according to the specific risks and environmental conditions of each application.
This combination of rapid response and intelligent discrimination makes the Rosemount 965 well suited to facilities where dependable fire detection is critical for protecting personnel, assets and operational continuity.
Factory calibrated for life to reduce maintenance
