Omron reads and verifies codes with simplicity and crystal clarity
With the new compact FQ-CR1 code reader from Omron, accurate and reliable reading of barcodes and 2D codes is easy to achieve, thanks to the reader’s superior crystal-clear imaging technology. The FQ-CR1 not only reads codes, but also offers complete or partial verification of upto 32 pre-defined code strings.
Designed specifically for reading codes printed on paper or labels, the FQ-CR1 features integrated high power LED lighting and HDR imaging technology, enabling it to provide dependable code reading even in challenging applications. It also automatically recognises nine different barcode formats and eight different 2D code formats without the need for complex setting, making it exceptionally versatile and simple to configure.
To even further extend the versatility of the FQ-CR1 code readers, they are offered in four versions that, between them, cover operating distances from 32 mm to 970 mm, and fields of view from 7.5 x 4.7 mm to 380 x 300 mm. This wide range of options is an important user benefit, as many conventional code readers have an inconveniently short operating range, making it hard for designers to find a suitable mounting position for them.
Compatibility of the new code readers with modern automation systems is assured by the provision, as standard, of an Ethernet output, which offers high speed communication and straightforward network integration.
Setting up the new FQ-CR1 can be carried out using a PC-based software package that is available free-of-charge from Omron, or by using the optional handheld Touchfinder screen. Ideal for making set up changes on site, the Touchfinder screen features a convenient and intuitive “teaching” system – the user simply places a sample code in the field of view of the reader, confirms it using the Touchfinder screen, and the code reader automatically adjusts itself for optimum performance.
In addition to the Touchfinder screen, other accessories available for Omron’s new FQ-CR1 code reader include a polarizing filter that is particularly useful when reading codes printed on reflective material, and a range of mounting brackets.
