CALIBRATION – AT YOUR CONVENIENCE

Listen to this article

On-site calibration makes complete business and process sense: no longer do you need to take the costly step of suspending your operations while an instrument is sent away, nor make the considerable investment in spare equipment just to keep your production line flowing.

On-site calibration

Endress+Hauser has made mobile calibration a practical proposition by harnessing technological advances, new techniques and equipment. For example, Coriolis meters do not require the lengthy pipework that is necessary with the use of electromagnetic flowmeters. And, with the introduction of compact Coriolis flowmeters, it is now possible to use this highly accurate technology as a mobile reference meter, making on-site flow calibration possible.

How does mobile calibration work?

Endress+Hauser makes on-site calibration simple, economic and efficient, as its service engineers work to standard operating procedures (SOPs). Each device is removed from the process line, connected to the mobile rig and calibrated using fresh water. Following calibration, the instrument is returned to the process line and a calibration certificate is produced on the spot. Alternatively, if space allows, the calibration rig can be added to the process line to allow in-situ calibration. This method is particularly quick and efficient as the instrument doesnt need to be disconnected from the process. Even in situations where inline calibration is essential but the wet rigs are impractical, Endress+Hauser can perform an electronic calibration (verification) of flowmeters using its Fieldcheck verification system. This is a simulator for testing and verifying all the major functions of any Endress+Hauser electromagnetic, Coriolis, ultrasonic and vortex flowmeters on site, allowing extended intervals between formal calibrations. And, whilst the use of a verification tool is not intended as a substitute for regular calibration, it may prevent an instrument that has drifted out of specification from being used unwittingly.

Taken as a whole, the benefits of mobile calibration are both numerous and obvious in terms of time, cost and convenience. And the type of calibration Endress+Hauser carries out can be tailored to the process to suit all needs, whether flow, pressure or temperature calibrations. Endress+Hausers fully qualified service engineers are equipped with certified and traceable reference equipment, so a complete on-site calibration service is offered for instruments in the field.
