Pulsar’s FlowCERT and DUET – the most accurate open channel flow measurement system you can buy – official!
In open channel flow measurement nobody can touch Pulsar Process Measurement of Malvern; their FlowCERT non-contacting ultrasonic system featuring the DUET transducer array has been certified as having the lowest error of any equipment tested to the new MCERTs Class 1 standard, including measurement under solar radiation and heat tests.
Pulsar’s FlowCERT is streets ahead of the competition, with a total accuracy ‘combined performance characteristic’ that is five times more accurate than it needs to be to achieve the Class 1 standard. Accuracy figures are published for all equipment that has been tested to the MCERTs standards on the SIRA website, so it is easy for anyone to see comparison figures.
In addition, Pulsar’s FlowCERT is easy to install, simple to commission and calibrate and maintenance free in operation. It is pre-programmed with the calculation parameters for all popular flumes and weirs. If no primary measurement device is available FlowCERT will work with a velocity sensor to provide a velocity x head measurement. A variation, using Pulsar’s dB3 transducer and a remote temperature sensor instead of DUET, also passes the MCERTs standard and has been called FlowCERT Lite.
Pulsar’s DUET transducer array is unique in that it is completely immune to temperature variations in the column of air, which affect the speed of sound, introducing inaccuracy to the measurement. DUET consists of two transducers working together: mounted a set distance apart and firing at the same time, the returning echo received at the lower transducer only. The distance between the transducers is known and fixed; the software built into FlowCERT automatically compensates for any variations in temperature.
