Protect FIBC operations from explosions caused by static sparks
The Earth-Rite® FIBC is a static grounding solution that prevents the dangerous accumulation of static electricity on Type C FIBC (also known as BIG-Bags or Super-sacks) located in hazardous areas. The Earth-Rite® FIBC achieves this by grounding the FIBC with Intrinsically Safe electronics that monitor the integrity of the ground path between the object being grounded and the plant’s reference grounding point.
In addition, the Earth-Rite® FIBC tests the electrical properties of the bag to ensure they are operating in accordance with IEC 60079-32, NFPA 77 and CLC/TR: 50404, the international guidelines for the control of static electricity in hazardous areas. By testing the electrical continuity of the bag, the Earth-Rite® FIBC ensures the static dissipative threads that conduct static electricity from the bag to earth are operating correctly. The majority of bag manufacturers highlight the possibility of repeated use affecting the electrical properties of bags. Even more importantly the Earth-Rite® FIBC can ensure that bags not suitable for use in a hazardous area can be identified and removed by site personnel.
When the operator connects both Earth-Rite® FIBC grounding clamps to the FIBC that requires static grounding protection, an array of green LEDs located in the ground indicator station pulses continuously, provided the resistance between the object and the plant’s reference grounding point is less than 100 meg-ohm or 10 meg-ohm (dependent on which standard the bag is manufactured to).
The Earth-Rite® FIBC is certified to ATEX, IECEx and North American (cCSAus) standards for installation in Zone 1 / Zone 21 and all Div. 1, gas, vapour and dust environments.
