Neils Due Jensen was just 2 years old in 1945 when his father Poul established the Grundfos company in the basement of their home in the small town of Bjerringbro, in Denmark.  Since then Grundfos has always played an enormous part in his life, in fact you could say it is now part of his DNA.

His first formal role within Grundfos was as an apprentice engine fitter when he joined the company on 26th August 1960.  He went on to qualify as a mechanical engineer and held various roles within the organisation until his fathers premature death in 1977 when he took on the full responsibility for the by then, burgeoning company, as Grundfos Group President.

In the intervening years he has played a key role in many initiatives that have helped drive the business, such as developing in-house micro-electronics that are at the heart of the Grundfos reputation for reliability and energy efficiency. Besides his product development foresight, Neils also understood the role the company should play in terms of social responsibility and opened the first of six sheltered workshops in Denmark 42 years ago.   

Although Neils stood down from the position of Group President in 2003, he remains very active within the company. In his current role of Grundfos Group Chairman he is still heavily involved in the vital area of R&D - developing future products and technology as well as being the perfect ambassador for Grundfos from a political, humanitarian and ecological viewpoint.

This ‘safe pair of hands’ has helped steer this €2bn business that today retains its Foundation status and is one of Denmark’s leading groups with companies all over the world. His father would be immensely proud.
