Pneumatic Conveying Short Courses for Industry
Registration is now open for a series of 2 and 3-day Pneumatic Conveying courses written with the industrial engineer in mind.
They are recommended for operators who handle bulk materials daily, for maintenance, Health and Safety officers, and plant or equipment designers.
Venue: The Wolfson Centre for Bulk Solids Handling Technology, University of Greenwich, Kent
****************
16 – 18 May: Pneumatic Conveying of Bulk Materials – an introduction to the identification of components of pneumatic conveying systems, system selection and design techniques.
Topics include:
- Dilute and dense phase conveying
- Practical design considerations
- Methods of reducing energy consumption
- Explosion Hazards including ATEX Directives
- System selection and operation
- Optional workshop to see demonstrations of equipment used in the pneumatic conveying processes
This course will be held again in November
28 – 29 June: Pneumatic Conveying System Design – an advanced course for the experienced engineer who would like an in-depth exploration into detailed calculations for design of pneumatic pipelines and specifying plant.
Topics include:
- Lean versus dense phase
- Obtaining conveying information to scale up for pipeline design;
- Predicting pipeline pressure drop and throughput;
- Stepped bore pipelines; a detailed look at bends
- Air humidity effects
- ** 2 places left**
This course will be held again in November
19 – 20 September: Commissioning and Troubleshooting ‘Hand’s-on’ Pneumatic Conveying Systems – a look at the practical challenges of starting up systems on site and making sure they work as the designer intended;
Topics include:
- The practical challenge of starting up systems on site and making sure they work as the designer intended;
- Understand the key signals to look out for that tell you how the system is operating;
- Ensuring the system is optimised around the users priority requirements eg. minimum energy usage/ particle blockage / system wear;
- The course is fully hands-on using the pneumatic conveying lines and rotary valves in the on-site pilot plant
