Hazardous Area Safety Equipment Manufacturer Moves to Larger Premises

Listen to this article

R. STAHL, a manufacturer of safety equipment for hazardous areas, has moved its premises in Aberdeen to a new, larger stock, assembly and test facility

The move heralds a new era of growth and opportunity for STAHL and continues the company’s legacy of long-term investment in the local economy and community.

The new premises – located at Unit 2, Hareness Circle, Altens Industrial Estate in Aberdeen – are approximately five times larger than the company’s previous site in Aberdeen. The additional space is required for a number of reasons, including the ability to provide improved services to larger OEM customers in the region, as well as offering a local site where Factory Acceptance Tests can be conducted on fully assembled equipment – a fast, cost effective service that will benefit many local oil and gas customers.

R. STAHL’s vast explosion-protected product portfolio includes HVAC and pressurised container units, signalling devices, power and distribution systems, electrical installation equipment, fixed and portable lighting equipment, operating and monitoring systems, and CCTV surveillance systems – all designed and manufactured to the highest quality standards.

The official opening of the new Aberdeen facility took place on 5th November 2015, where more than 50 guests – end user customers, suppliers and distributors – gathered to view the new office and build facilities. The new premises are an addition to the company’s existing UK headquarters in Birmingham.

Grant Stott, Sales Manager Scotland at R. STAHL Limited commented: “Moving to the new facility represents a significant investment by R. STAHL. In 2012, we opened a smaller stock and assembly facility in Aberdeen, which was set up to serve our local distributor network.

However, over the last few years, it has become evident that we need a larger site where we can stock, assemble and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests on customers’ equipment, such as distribution boxes, control panels, explosion-proof lighting and other fully assembled systems for OEMs.”

With a background in electrical wholesale and distribution management, as well as more than eight years’ experience working in the Aberdeen oil and gas market, Grant Stott is excited about the future.

“Our customers in Aberdeen require an excellent level of technical and logistical service. The opening of our new premises will enable us to meet and exceed these expectations, providing value to our customers and local distributors, as well as continuing to offer fast, off-the-shelf products and services,” he added.
