TLV Euro Engineering Launches New Range of Disc Traps
Although widely acknowledged as being highly-versatile, thermodynamic disc traps are often prone to air binding, short service life and can result in costly steam loss. To overcome these issues, Cheltenham-based steam specialist TLV Euro Engineering has introduced its new PowerDyne disc traps, which are available in a full range of pressures from 0.3 to 260 barg (near atmospheric to super-critical).
All PowerDyne disc traps feature replaceable modules to reduce maintenance costs by quickly enabling inline replacement of normal wear parts such as the valve disc and seat. They are also equipped with air-insulated caps to offer resistance to environmental effects and minimise unnecessary operation and steam loss. The use of bimetal air vent rings eliminate air binding and allow hardened sealing surfaces to be mirror polished, which results in a tight sealing that saves steam, even under severe superheat conditions. This bimetal air ring also helps to quickly and efficiently vent start-up air without binding, which helps to eliminate the need for manual blowdown.
The four models in TLV’s PowerDyne P Series are available in either carbon steel or stainless steel construction; feature operating pressure ranges from 0.3 to 65 barg; a maximum operating temperature of 400°C and discharge capacities from 470 to 2,070 kg/h. The Cro-Mo alloy steel constructed HR Series, which is ideal for use on high-temperature/high-pressure steam mains, is available in three models with pressure ranges from 8 to 260 barg; maximum operating temperature of 550°C; and maximum discharge capacities from 190 to 230 kg/h.
