Expand existing pressure range with minimum effort, minimum cost, maximum effect!
Hydraulic pressure intensifiers are used world wide in new as well as existing hydraulic systems, where a higher end pressure than supplied by the pump system is needed.
In existing systems the use is typically for increasing the pressure for a sub function such as feeding a clamping circuit on a machine tool, or to allow high pressure tooling to be operated directly from the standard hydraulic system.
The big advantage here is you don’t need to install a separate high pressure system, but can get the high pressure directly from the existing hydraulics in a technically and cost effective way.
In new systems pressure intensifiers allow you to design the circuit using low pressure right up to the point of use, where high pressure is needed.
This is the case in hydraulic power packs, where typically a gear pump is used generating 140 – 200 bar, and where 700 – 2500 bar is needed, e.g. for bolt tensioning tools.
The basic design of the intensifiers resembles that of a small piston pump, only the intensifier is hydraulically driven, and does not need separate controls.
All high pressure check valves are integrated, and these allow fast filling at pump pressure before the end pressure is built up. If high pressure is needed to move a load, this will be done by the flow generated by the internal pistons.
The end pressure is always proportional with the supplied pressure, and the high pressure side is set by simply setting the inlet pressure of the intensifier.
During pressure build up the intensifier will give continuous flow until the end pressure has been reached. Then the intensifier stops, but will automatically kick in if the end pressure set is dropping. Therefore the end pressure is always maintained by the intensifier.
As all controls typically will be on the supply side, these will be standard off the shelf products ensuring a cost efficient system. Also as the intensifiers are very compact in size, this means the intensifiers are perfect for retrofitting onto existing systems.
The precision engineered design of the intensifiers enable the hydraulic system to achieve the final high pressure required in applications such as power packs, work-holding equipment, hydraulic tools, sub sea ROVs, mining, static and impulse testing equipment, pressure die casting machines, injection moulding, forklifts, etc.
