Worlds First Eco Friendly Paper Made From Bran
The fascinating search for eco-friendly paper solutions continues to throw out some outlandish and interesting techniques. Italian food company Barilla has partnered with paper manufacturer Favini for a world first; paper made from bran.
The process utilises elements of bran no longer fit for human consumption; this process therefore eliminates wastage and even converts this otherwise useless residue into paper available in two grades; 100g and 250g. This is not Favini’s first venture into novel paper alternatives having already developed a range of ecological papers based on other industrial by-products.
Barilla claim the heavier weight is ideal for cards and book covers while the lighter version makes for a good notebook. Creative solutions such as this may not be well-versed in the long-standing history of the paper industry, but could be crucial to its future.
