BSRIA expands UKAS accredited calibration operations to BSRIA North

As an existing UKAS ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration laboratory, BSRIA is delighted to announce it has extended its scope to cover its new BSRIA North operation and laboratory located in Preston, Lancashire.

This extension means BSRIA North now offers the services: calibration of temperature and pressure devices including barometers, as well air volume flow devices (fans) – which are used in many sectors of industry including the testing of buildings during air tightness testing to Part L of the Building Regulations.

“Construction of the custom designed Preston laboratory was started in February 2017 and the assessment of the facility by UKAS within six months enables us to now fully support both our existing client base across the UK as well expand our operations into new markets.

BSRIA has conducted temperature and pressure calibrations for many years with clients ranging from building facility managers to research scientists, and the opening up of a northern laboratory complements the scope of calibration work conducted presently within the Bracknell facility.

Attainment of UKAS accreditation is certainly a significant moment for BSRIA North and demonstrates our commitment and focus – not only to customers – but to quality and professionalism – right from the get-go.

“The opening of our second laboratory is a significant milestone for BSRIA as it not only doubles our UK capacity for testing fans, gauges and temperature devices used by air tightness engineers, it also gives BSRIA a northern base which allows clients to drop-off and collect their goods from a regional facility. Similar to the existing business located in Bracknell, Berkshire, BSRIA North holds stock of new products from Energy Conservatory and Retrotec, as well as consumable items such as sealing tape from TechnoSol.”

Attainment of the UKAS extension to scope is the second piece of quality accreditation received for BSRIA North over recent months. BSI extended BSRIA ISO 9001 scope to cover the Preston operations earlier in June: this covers the Equipment Hire, Calibration and Sales operations.
