Regency combines style and sustainability for Westfield water stations
Regency Design, the British design and manufacturing specialist, has created a sustainable cabinet for Virgin Pure’s Water System, which allows the public to refill their water bottles at Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City.
Regency’s in-house design and manufacturing teams used marine ply and recycled ocean plastic to create the high-quality cabinets that house several water systems at the two shopping centres. These in turn encourage shoppers and visitors to use their refillable bottles, rather than buy single-use plastics when they are shopping.
Finding and using sustainable materials that can minimise environmental impact is key to good design says Zak Manhire, Chief Commercial Officer at Regency Design: “Our sustainability policy is central to what we do and how we operate as a business manufacturer, and we consider it to be part of our job to find and work with specialist suppliers. There is no need for a disconnect to exist between style and sustainability.
“The cabinets created for Virgin Pure are a perfect example of this. The end result is a slick, modern-looking cabinet that accentuates the striking brand of Virgin Pure, and which sits comfortably in the shopping environment of the Westfield centres, but which also has less impact on the environment with panels made from 100% recycled waste materials such as plastic bottles, yoghurt pots and other food packaging that come from ocean waste.”
David Harkness, CEO at Regency Design, stresses that these water cabinets are another example of the company’s broader commitment to its sustainability strategy: “We are always searching for ways to incorporate sustainable materials into our work, and we are currently in the process of using these recycled plastic panels for the design of various point-of-sale products for our customers.”
