Italian water distribution company IRETI uses NeoFlow pressure regulating valve for its pressure management
IRETI supplies water to over 2.5 million customers in almost 300 municipalities in Northwest Italy, with a network of roughly 20’000 kilometres. The water loss in Italy is on average 37%. Also IRETI faces the challenge of non-revenue water and with it the associated maintenance and asset lifetime. The innovative NeoFlow pressure regulating valve (PRV) by GF Piping Systems provides the solution.
The effective use of pressure management has reduced the rate of pipe bursts in IRETI’s networks by over 60%, simultaneously reducing water leakages (a key strategic goal for the company). This increases the lifetime of the piping system while reducing maintenance requirements, disruption and leading to cost savings.
Furthermore, this has enabled the water utility to increase its active leak detection program using available resources. Besides the pressure regulating system reduced the requirement for pumped water resulting in energy savings of 30 e.t.p. (equivalent tons of petrol).
The enhanced pressure stability delivered by NeoFlow guarantees a consistent and reliable water distribution with the added benefits of reduced mechanical stress due to pressure variation. Furthermore, thanks to the lightweight polymer body and simple axial flow design of NeoFlow the installation time can be reduced by up to 40%.
