Essentra Components Begins Solar Panel Installation at Kidlington Global Head Office
Essentra Components, a leading manufacturer of essential components and solutions, has made a significant move towards its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2040 with the start of solar panel installation at its Global Head Office in Kidlington, Oxford, UK.
Once completed, the 815 kWp solar array is expected to produce over 700 MWh annually. This initiative is part of Essentra's broader commitment to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50% by 2030, using 2019 as the baseline year.
The Kidlington installation marks the third Essentra site to adopt solar energy solutions, following successful implementations at its manufacturing facilities in Rayong, Thailand, and Hengzhu, China, both completed in 2023.
Jennifer Spence, ESG Director at Essentra, emphasized the strategic significance of this project: “The installation of solar panels at our Kidlington site highlights our strong commitment to sustainability. We have developed a comprehensive framework for carbon reduction, incorporating short-, medium-, and long-term actions across our key sites and product lines. This initiative not only provides substantial cost savings but also boosts our ability to generate renewable energy on-site.
“We are constantly refining our sustainability strategy to ensure it aligns with our decarbonization goals. The solar installation in Kidlington is a clear demonstration of our commitment to achieving net-zero emissions in our direct operations by 2040.”
The solar panel installation at Essentra's Headquarters is set to be completed by April 2025.
